Florence


Florence is the city of art par excellence. In its territory, it offers an incredible wealth of works of art.

In a walk through the centre of Florence, visitors can still admire the glorious past of this city. In every corner there are unique buildings and just watching them visitors feel themselves immersed in the Renaissance. The atmosphere of the old town is simply wonderful.

One of the symbols of the city is the picturesque Ponte Vecchio, where a lot of jewellers and artisan shops were established alo ng time ago and still offer beautiful and elegant items. Piazza della Signoria is the centre of the city. Here there is the Palazzo Vecchio, the seat of the powerful Medici family. Today it houses the headquarters of the Municipality of Florence.

A first taste of the beauty of the historic centre is obtained from the Piazzale Michelangelo, a vantage point offering a breathtaking view of the city with its bridges and the roofs of ancient buildings, with the widening of the streets and the dome of the cathedral and the bell tower of Giotto.
Normally one of the first targets of tourists is the Museo degli Uffizi, which is one of the most important museums in the world. It houses paintings by great artists like Raphael, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo and Caravaggio.

Palazzo Pitti, originally owned by the noble family Pitti and later come into possession of the Medici family, now houses the Palatine Gallery, filled with fine works by Titian, Caravaggio and Rubens.
